About Gymnastics:
Gymnastics is truly the "Mother of all Sports". Gymnastics training develops gross motor skills, makes the body flexible and strong. It improves endurance, co-ordination and agility. The numerous skills in gymnastics not just develop physical abilities but also accelerate neuro muscular development , thus, improving cognitive abilities. It is important to look at Gymnastics as a developmental sport, which prepares children for multiple sports. Every child, till 9 years of age, should do gymnastics for holistic development and then, based on individual physical abilities, should be counselled to take up a sport which matches with those abilities.

Competitive gymnastics will be just, one of the outcomes of this program. Gymnastics is a very technical sport. Competitive gymnastics require different types of apparatuses, mats, crash mats & floor mats for safe performance, safety equipment, training kits, electrical & electronic devises to record points. It requires big financial support, without the same, it is difficult to promote this sport. Due to the complexity and technical nature, the coaches and trainers teaching the sport have to be equally skilled, knowledgeable and trained in the right way. This is one of the major stumbling blocks in the development of the sport

We are planning to address this in multiple ways. Priorities on grassroot development, Take steps to increase awareness of the sport, develop coaches, identify smaller set of equipment for grassroot training, develop and certify local equipment manufacturers who can provide the equipment at reasonable costs, define curriculum and organize tournaments to motivate children to take up this sport.
The association is committed to elevate the standard quality of gymnastics in Mumbai suburban.

Mission & Future plans of BJGS:
    • Promote and develop gymnastics at grassroot level.
    • Conduct coaching courses to develop coaches who can train at various levels and certify them as qualified coach.
    • Provide opportunities for children to display their talent and get motivated to continue participation for holistic development and healthy living, in line with Fit India Movement.
    • Strengthen the association by bring in professional resources from different areas and develop a stronger eco-system for gymnastics as a sport, so that it becomes a career option for the youth and hence a choice sport in Mumbai for parents
